Reconstruct - Building a Better Superstruct Interface
Being part of the Superstruct community has a rippling effect. I am affected; the student teachers I work with are affected; and the children they will eventually work with will be affected. Students created energy harvesting clothes as a response to the Power Struggle Superthreat.
It’s hard to imagine saving the world simply by playing, learning together, inventing, and creating. But perhaps THAT is the best example of a “synergetic solution”—when the solution design is fluid and natural, and we suddenly realize the pure joy of learning and working together on things that really matter.
Superstruct helps me press forward in my research about teaching and learning in the 21st century. What are the learning platforms and curriculums that need to be imagined? What mechanisms do we need to synchronize living systems? How do we foster relational skills we haven’t yet named? How do manage non-hierarchical collaborative systems? Can we build sustainable new ground without foundations? What is school for and what is living well?
I’ve met passionate people who are SUPREMELY competent at what they do, with imaginations and talents and skills that make me hopeful for humanity’s future. Liz, from my class, sums up this experience well. Superstruct raises awareness. Awareness leads to action. Action leads to knowledge. Knowledge leads to power.
